INGESTRE Park Golf Club has been celebrating one of its best ever years at junior level.

Junior chairman Steve Downes said: “Our junior section has just had an incredible year that will take some matching and may never be beaten.”

Star performance came from Louis Birchall (pictured right) who won the Staffordshire Amateur Championship with scores of 75 and an incredible course record of 61 at Oxley Park Golf Club.

Meanwhile, Peter Booker was part of the under-18 six-man team that won the national county championship for the first time ever beating Yorkshire, Devon and Hampshire in the play off finals.

A third Ingestre youngster, William Downes was part of the under-14 Staffordshire ten-counties winning team and he also won the county Boys Championship (nett) at Sandwell Park GC.

His brother, Matthew Downes had the honour of being SUGC U16 county captain for the year and also represented the U18 team in the Midland final against Leicestershire and Rutland in Cambridgeshire.

Ingestre Park also had Lauren Hill, Henry Smith, Peter Booker, James Judge, Alfie Wills, Nathan Parsons, Matthew and William Downes representing the county at various age group levels, a number they had never achieved previously. before in any other year. Henry Smith also had a great year in winning 3 of the clubs major Men’s competitions for the year and the junior team came 2nd in the Mid Staffordshire junior leagues for 2013.
