Inquest date announced for Stafford-born policeman David Rathband

AN INQUEST into the death of Stafford-born police officer David Rathband who was blinded by gunman Raoul Moat will be held on January 6

PC David Rathband, 43, was found dead 19 months after he was shot by Moat, who went on the run after injuring his ex-girlfriend and killing her partner.

Mr Rathband was found hanged at his home in Blyth, Northumberland, in February 2012. His funeral was held in Stafford.

South Northumberland Coroner's Office announced the inquest date.
