A STAFFORD Grammar School student has teamed up with GB judo star Tom Davis in a national programme aimed at making a difference to people’s lives.

Jeremy Housden, 17, will design and deliver a community project over the next few weeks with the help of the elite athlete.

Their partnership is part of the AQA and Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust's Unlocking Potential scheme, which pairs youngsters with world class sports performers in a bid to boost their confidence, motivation and self-belief.

Jeremy is one of just 22 youngsters chosen by panel of teachers, academics and business representatives from more than 115 applicants across the country.

“When I met Tom I found him really cheerful and enthusiastic. I like the fact that my mentor is a current athlete. I’m excited about meeting up with him again soon,” said Jeremy, who is a rugby fan, playing for Eccleshall RUFC under-17s.
