LADYBIRDS produced a strong performance when emerging 36-20 winners over Kingfisher Gems, in the Stafford Netball League.

Excellent interceptions and some superb defending by Emily Coleman saw the Ladybirds leading 16-10 at half time. Gems came out fighting after the break but Ladybirds stayed strong with Heather Loynes their player of the match.

Bluebelles took on Saints and ran out 33-26 winners. The match opened at a furious pace, before the Belles began to edge clear thanks to a determined performance from Nikki Pastel and they held the advantage.

In a top of the table clash, Stafford Ladies, who only started with six players, led Touchstone 18-14 at half-time.

Excellent shooting enabled the Ladies to retain the lead and, although Touchstone played well in centre court, they could not pull back the final deficit of 39-28. Player of the match awards went to Sue Lawton (Ladies) and Ellie Henshall Bell (Touchstone).
