THERE were tears of joy at Walton High School this morning as students opened their A Levels.

Twins Kelly and Tom Slade, 18, were both celebrating the news that they had secured their places at Warwick University for September.

Kelly said: "I am over the moon and I got into my top choice for university with two As and a B. So I'm going to Warwick to do Theater."

Her brother Tom was also pleased with his results and said, due to them both going to the same university, it would make it a lot easier for their parents when they visit.

"It was just a coincidence we picked the same university as we looked at quite a few and ended up picking the same one," he said.

"I didn't get the grades that I was expecting, but I still managed to get into Warwick which was my first choice."

Half of the students managed to receive grades A* to B with the schools overall pass rate at 98 per cent.

Head Teacher, Neil Finlay, said: "I am very pleased with this excellent set of results. I am especially delighted with the proportion of A* grades that our students have been awarded, which at 8 per cent is the highest in our academic history.

"I am happy that the hard work of our A Level students and the support of their parents and teachers has been rewarded."
