Lichfield Cathedral plays host to free concerts

Lichfield Cathedral is to play host to a series of midweek lunchtime concerts this summer.

The concerts will be on each Wednesday and Friday between July 16 and August 29 from 1.15pm to 1.45pm. There is no admission fee, however donations will be warmly received.

The twice weekly concerts will feature the likes of John Keys, Director of Music, St Mary’s, Nottingham; Imogen Garner, mezzo-soprano; and Jonathan Hope, Assistant Director of Music, Gloucester Cathedral.

The Very Reverend Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield, said “The Music for Reflection series is a key event in our summer calendar. The concerts will be on over lunchtime, and we’d like to encourage people to step away from their work and come to the Cathedral for something inspiring and refreshing.”

Cathedral Organist, Martyn Rawles added, “We’re hoping that this year’s event will be even bigger and better than last year’s. We’ve got a diverse mix of musicians lined up including a performance by Lichfield Cathedral School Music Department which we’re very much looking forward to.”
