LOCAL football was decimated by the wet and windy weather over the first weekend of 2014.

Fixtures involving Brocton, Eccleshall, Stafford Town, Stone Old Alleynians and FC Stafford were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

All but four of the scheduled Stafford and District Sunday Football League matches were also wiped out.

However, two ties were played in the Lichfield Charity Cup, but there was disappointment for two local clubs.

Stafford Celtic visited Pelsall Villa Colts and bowed out 3-2, while the Met Bar suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Red White Blue.

On the domestic scene, Riverway A and County Officers battled away in the heavy conditions and eventually settled for a point apiece in a goalless draw, in division one.

Great Haywood were the only Stafford team chalking up a win this week as they ran out 3-2 winners over Rifleman Joiners in the division three trophy.
