DESPITE rumours to the contrary the Mid Staffordshire Inquiry is still on track for its completion in early January 2013.

Rumours began circulating today that the public inquiry, chaired by Robert Francis QC, into the role of commissioning, supervisory and regulatory bodies monitoring the hospital trust during the period between January 2005 and March 2009, was set for another delay and would not be submitted to the Secretary of State for Health before February.

Talking to the Newsletter, a spokesman for the Inquiry said: “We will submit it in January as previously announced.

“We understand the importance of this report and we will be letting people know as soon as we have a firm publication date.”

He said once submitted to the Secretary of State for Health, the report would be published and laid before parliament adding the date of presentation to Parliament and publication would then be a matter for the Secretary of State to determine.
