MODDERSHALL firsts secured a maximum of 25 points from the last ball of the game to give their NSSCL Div1 promotion hopes a lift at home to Ashcombe Park.
The hosts batted first and declared after 53 overs on 280 thanks to a century from Tom Ball (101) who was supported by Fraser Hawkins (50), Sam Moores (45) and Kashif Bhatti (44no) with Ashcombe's Jake Johnson being pick of the bowlers taking 3-40.
In reply, the visitors opener Nick Goodwin scored 82 with the bat before before being caught by Modd skipper Andy Hawkins.
Khasif Bhatti went on to achieve seven wickets for 45 runs and Ashcombe needed to bat out for the draw when their last man was dismissed by lbw off Bhatti's last ball to keep Modd in the promotion chase three points behind Little Stoke with two to play.
The A firsts wrapped up the league title and continued their unbeaten run in the Stone and District Premier Division against Porthill Park at Whisper Lane
Porthill batted first and totalled 102 all out with Modd spinner Jack Chell achieving 5-20 off ten overs.
Opening for the hosts Tom Timmis hit 47 not out but he was only supported by Anthony Beech (24) as all the rest of the Porthill batsmen fell on single figures.
In reply, Moddershall lost their first five wickets for a total of only 16 runs before Craig Ferns (20no) and Andrew Lightbown (60no) secured the win and the league title.
