Mountain biker airlifted to hospital after crash on isolated Cannock Chase trail

A MOUNTAIN-BIKER has been airlifted to hospital after falling from his bike on an isolated trail in Cannock Chase.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to an area of the Monkey Trail on Cannock Chase just before 2pm where they were assisted by local rangers from the Forestry Commission in locating the patient. a man in his forties.

"Crews responded to an incident in which a man had reportedly fallen from his bike on one of the Chase mountain bike trails," he said. "A man in his forties was treated by ambulance staff for a pelvic injury.

"The patient was immobilised with the use of a neck collar and spinal board before being airlifted to Derby Royal Infirmary for further assessment and treatment."
