ASPIRING actors in Stone will soon be able to tread the boards as part of a new theatre group.
The company is aimed at budding thespians aged 13 to 21 and will launch next month with open auditions for roles in its forthcoming production of A Chorus Line.
Stone Youth Theatre will be based at the town's established performing arts academy, Rooftop Studios and will meet for training and rehearsals on Thursday evenings during school term times from 7.30-9.30pm.
It will run in addition Rooftop's existing dance and drama classes including the Saturday Pop School and Stage Academy (PSSA) training school.
Studio director Laura Keeling said: "We're delighted to announce the launch of Stone Youth Theatre – it's something we've been keen to do for a very long time to offer even more youngsters the chance to benefit from the professional training available at Rooftop Studios.
"The youth theatre will concentrate on preparing for regular shows while our PSSA training school on a Saturday will focus on technical and practical skills without having the distraction of rehearsals."
Youngsters will need to attend open auditions to join Stone Youth Theatre. If they are among those selected to star in a show, there will be an initial production fee of £35 to join; with weekly sessions costing £2.50 per hour.
Open auditions for A Chorus Line are set to take place on Sunday, May 18 and Thursday, May 22.
