THE former Co-op department store in Stafford has been given a new lease of life and unveiled to the public.
The revamped store, now known as the Stafford Department Store, opened on Friday, boasting a range of fashion and home items, many at lower prices, and a cafe.
It marks a turn-around for Stafford’s high street. In April the Co-op was forced to shut up shop after 50 years in the town as it struggled in the current
economic climate. It was a major blow, coming on the back of other
town closures. But Brand Retailing Manchester took over the
shop, creating around 70 jobs, with previous staff given the opportunity to apply.
The Gaolgate Street store has a range of fashion and home items and a cafe.
Brand Retailing also owns the Fashion Factory in Cannock.
