Apple creative guru and Walton High School alumni knighted for services to design

ONE of Stafford's most successful sons, Apple creative guru Jonathan Ive, has been knighted for his services to design and enterprise.

The ex pupil of Walton High School and the man behind the iconic design of the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad was honoured at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace by Princess Anne.

Sir Jonathan, 45, senior-vice president of industrial design at the computer giant, flew in from the United States along with his wife and twin sons especially for the ceremony.

Walton Headteacher Neil Finlay said: "We were absolutely delighted to learn about this well deserved honour for Jonathan Ive.

"It’s a well-documented fact that Jonathan attended Walton High School when his family relocated here in the 1980s and although we cannot take any of the credit for his achievements (all of his teachers have subsequently retired) we are still immensely proud of his success.”
