BREWOOD firefighters represented Staffordshire in a national challenge testing their skills at extracting victims of traffic collisions.
The team made it through to the finals of the National Extrication Challenge in Lincoln following victory in preliminary heats earlier in the year.
Station manager Ian Dawson said: “The crew from Brewood performed exceptionally well.
“Competition was stiff and sadly they didn’t make it through to the second round, but it was a great experience for them and they have come away with the motivation to hopefully represent the service again at next year’s finals.”
The competition is an annual event where firefighters are judged on their professionalism in releasing trapped casualties from vehicles inside a set time frame, with each team given a different car crash scenario and actors playing casualties developing injuries for the team to deal with during the exercise.
