A VET has set up the first home visiting service in Stafford Borough.
Maja Redfern, 34, decided to launch vetvisits.co.uk after working at a town centre practice for five years.
The Burton Manor resident provides all the services available at a normal practice - except for major interventions such as X-rays and surgery.
“I had been thinking about it doing something like this for a while,” Mrs Redfern said. “A visit to the vet can be a stressful event for pets, involving a cage, a car journey and a wait in a busy waiting room.
“Offering veterinary services in the comfort of your own home - or garden - means the animal can be examined in a relaxed and familiar surroundings, minimising stress for both pet and owner.” Mrs Redfern, pictured, consulted a vet running a similar practice in Brighton before launching her own venture.
Among the services she now offers at homes in Stafford and the surrounding areas are vaccinations, euthanasia, flea treatment and sedation for fireworks.
It is thought there is only one other mobile vet - based in Tamworth - in Staffordshire. The business model also fitted in with Mrs Redfern’s busy home life as a mum-of-two.
