Taking eight days to complete, the Gran Charity Giro started began at Altecnic's M6 headquarters.

Travelling at an average speed of 15mph, the teams route took them through Northern France, into Switzerland and over the High Alps via the famous Grand St Bernard Pass - finally arriving at Altecnic's parent company, Caleffi, in Fontaneto D’Agogna.

Area sales manager, Dave Hart led the intrepid team - who are hoping to have raised around £10,000 for St Katharine House Hospice, Shine Together and Leukaemia & Lymphona Research once the final total is known.

Shine Together, the charity for Frenchay and Southmead hospitals, was chosen by event organiser Dave Hart, after he suffered an accident which left his back broken in two places. He said: "It was an exciting challenge, and one that I didn’t think I’d be able to do. I’m so grateful to the medical teams that helped me recover that a thousand miles on a bike really seems like the least I could do.

“Every pound raised will go straight to these three charities, which are close to all our hearts and we’ve been shown a huge amount of support from our colleagues and customers. I’m so proud that Altecnic and Caleffi are supporting the Gran Charity Giro and helping us make this possible.”
