A STAFFORD firm has been presented with the highest official UK award for business.
Addmaster, which makes additives and antimicrobial products, received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise during a ceremony at their Staffordshire Technology Park offices last Friday.
The accolade, which was bestowed on just 95 UK firms last year, was announced by Her Majesty in April as part of her annual round of birthday honours.
And last Friday, company bosses were formally presented with the award by the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Sir James Hawley and his wife, Lady Hawley.
Sir James said: “This is a highly prestigious award that brings great credit to Paul and his team, as well as the county of Staffordshire.
“Addmaster have exceeded all expectations by pioneering great sales in a challenging export market. We wish them continued success in the future.” The presentation followed a reception at Buckingham Palace in August when Addmaster managing director Paul Morris met the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. The Queen makes the awards on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce and trade unions.
Addmaster was chosen for the honour after showing strong export growth in its Biomaster antimicrobial products, which are used in the healthcare and food industries.
Mr Morris, 42, said: “We are very proud to receive this award, which is a culmination of 11 years’ hard work.” “We have not only invented a new business model in our industry sector but used it to develop and promote world firsts in many markets.
“This includes Biomaster, a unique but simple antimicrobial additive that is safe, durable and effective in all applications against bacteria such as MRSA, E.Coli, and Campylobacter.”
