Thousands of jobs in line for business park

DEVELOPERS are hoping to create up to 2,400 jobs at a Stafford business park, it has been revealed.

Generic Online news 3Stafford Consortium ISE Trading won outline permission to extend the Beacon Business Park on Weston Road during a special planning committee meeting earlier this month.

Now, bosses have unveiled plans to attract new factories, offices, a hotel and pub to the 50 acre site - creating a recruitment boom for the local area over the next five years.

It comes just weeks after MOD Stafford announced 1,200 troops will be re-locating to the nearby Beacon Barracks in 2015 - bringing-in scores of potential customers.

ISE bought the land from the Ministry Defence in 2005 and has since signed deals with 12 businesses - creating 350 jobs. However, they still have to win full planning permission from Stafford Borough Council before going ahead with any expansion.

Andrew Bramall, one of the owners of ISE Estates, said: "In these difficult times, approval for this development will benefit the area immediately, demonstrating that Stafford is a place business can come and grow." With more than 20,000 sq ft of warehouses, the business park has been almost fully occupied throughout the recent economic downturn with owners turning away offers from interested businesses.

Mr Bramall added: "With such a central location, good infrastructure and excellent security, we are confident that we can continue to attract high calibre companies and jobs to Stafford." The announcement comes after Asda Living, M&S and Morrisons announced their intention to open new stores around Stafford town centre during the last few weeks.
