Written byRobin Scott

STONE MP Bill Cash has called for a parliamentary debate on the Francis Report into the Mid Staffordshire Public Inquiry.

Mr Cash called for the Leader of the House of Commons to ensure there would be an early debate on the floor of the house, in government time on the report.

“In liaison with my honourable friend, the member for Stafford Jeremy Lefroy, may I ask my right honourable friend - who will personally recall my parliamentary campaign for a public inquiry, under the Inquiries Act 2005, into Stafford hospital, which was granted by the Prime Minister but persistently refused by the previous Government - to ensure that we have an early debate on the Floor of the House, in Government time, on the Francis report? When will it be?”

Former secretary of state for health Andrew Lansley said he would discuss with the chair of the Backbench Business Committee when time might be made available.
