GENEROUS residents willing to help a Stafford cancer charity raise vital cash are being urged to come forward.
The charity is hosting an introduction to fund-raising event at Rising Brook Community Fire Station on Tuesday at 7pm for people to find out more.
Current volunteer Keith Burton will be attending to speak to would-be helpers.
He became involved when his wife Jenny was diagnosed with secondary liver cancer in 1997 and he felt there was little or no support available.
Jenny underwent chemotherapy but died eight months after her diagnosis, aged 46.
Keith has since devoted the past 15 years to fund-raising for Macmillan.
The group provides a range of medical, emotional, financial and practical support to cancer patients and their families.
Gill Walters, area chairman of Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “We sometimes find ourselves short of volunteers. People can give up as little as an hour or two to help with a collection or at a fund-raising event or they can get much more involved if they want to. The group meets every few weeks to plan the next fund-raiser.”
