A STAFFORD charity shop struggling to bag donations to sell is taking its appeal to a town supermarket this weekend.
PDSA in Greengate Street has seen its collection bag donations dwindle in the past year.
It is believed just seven per cent of every 1,000 bags delivered to homes in the local area - fewer than 100 - are left out with donations for collection.
Although the store continues to receive donations over the counter it urgently requires more stock to help raise much-needed funds to treat sick pets.
PDSA shop volunteer Ann Everill said: “We’re working with nothing at the moment and we have to get stock in from other shops. We’re in desperate need of donations - clothing, bric-a-brac - anything. We don’t get many donations when we go out collecting, but we do have a free collection service on Thursdays starting from 8.30am.” PDSA volunteers will be taking their donation appeal to the foyer of Stafford Asda tomorrow and Saturday between 10am and 4pm.
There will be volunteers dressed as animals, complete with collection buckets, as well as a fund-raising tombola giving shoppers the chance to win a giant teddy bear.
Anyone who would like to request a free collection on Thursdays should contact 01785 214875.
