A CHURCH’S bells are back in town following a restoration project to keep them ringing out across Stone.
Visitors were invited to view the 10 recast and retuned bells at St Michael and St Wulfad’s Church on Saturday before their rehanging in a new metal frame in the church tower.
On Sunday the bells were rededicated at a special service led by the Bishop of Stafford.
Local people raised the cash needed for the restoration project in just 18 months.
Reverend Ian Cardinal, Rector at St Michael and St Wulfad’s Church, said: “This project has needed a lot of hard work and commitment by everyone concerned and the return of the bells is a truly historic event.”
