Conmen steal pensioners necklace in betting shop scam

Written bySarah Marshall

CONMEN stole a £500 necklace from a pensioner’s neck in a Rugeley betting shop.

They went into Coral in Upper Brook Street at around 10.10am on Tuesday and approached a customer, trying to sell him some fake gold jewellery.

The customer showed no interest so they put a chain round his neck.

When the victim, in his 70s, told them to remove it they stole his own gold chain.

The thieves then visited William Hill, in the same street, but left emptyhanded.

They are described as Asian, with one aged 35 to 40, around 5ft 7ins and broad.
