A CYCLIST was hospitalised in Stafford this morning after being knocked off his bike during rush hour on Lichfield Road.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to the incident at 7.40am.
“A male, believed to be in his 30s was knocked off his pedal cycle,” he said.
He said a rapid response vehicle and a paramedic attended the man who was breathing and conscious on the scene before he was taken to Stafford Hospital for further treatment.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “We received a call just after 7.40am from colleagues at the Ambulance service alerting us to a road traffic collision on Lichfield Road opposite the Sun Inn.
“The incident involved a car and a cyclist,” she said. “The car was a black Volkswagen Golf and was in collision with a 30-year-old male on a bicycle.
“The injuries to the cyclist are not believed to be life threatening and he was taken to Stafford Hospital with minor injuries.”
