A FULL-SCALE rescue operation had to be mounted when a cyclist fell and dislocated his ankle on Cannock Chase.
West Midlands Ambulance sent a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and two ambulances after the man was injured on the M7 cycle track at around 12.55pm on Saturday.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Initially there was difficulty in finding the cyclist. A fellow cyclist very helpfully guided ambulance crews to his injured friend.
“The injured cyclist, a man in his late twenties, had a dislocated right ankle but, once found, it was still difficult to get him safely to the waiting ambulance. “Once safely rescued, the cyclist was taken to Stafford Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
