Fatal M6 lorry crash

A LORRY driver has died after a crash on the M6.

Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway yesterday at around 11.50am, where a red lorry came off the road near junction 12.

Paramedics were unable to save the driver, a man in his 60s from the West Midlands, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The north and southbound carriageways were closed while the vehicle was covered and the scene was examined.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or saw the vehicle before it happened is asked to call Sgt Ian Bevans at Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 259.
