Martin Yeates, who resigned from the trust in 2009 and was unable to answer questions at the subsequent inquiry due to health issues, has taken up a new role as chief executive of Impact Alcohol and Advisory Services, a health charity based in Shrewsbury that works with the NHS.

Speaking to the Newsletter, Andrew Hodge, solicitor for Mr Yeates, said he was unable to go into detail about the illness that had prevented his client from answering questions at the inquiry into the failings of care at the hospital trust.

“I’m not a doctor, and there are limitations on what I can say about Mr Yeates health problems,” he said. “However, it was never the case that those problems would prevent him from ever working again.”

The charity, which delivers a wide-range of counselling and alcohol-related services throughout Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, working alongside Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust, refused to comment on the matter.
