AN HGV caught fire on the Northbound carriageway of the M6, delaying traffic for several hours.
The fire service was alerted to the burning vehicle, between junctions 14 and 15 of the motorway, just after 1pm on Thursday (May 24).
A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and rescue said: “We were informed that an HGV’s tire had blown and that the vehicle was on fire.
“Crews from Stafford and Stone attended the vehicle using a single hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and then spent some time making sure that no other part of the vehicle was alight.”
She added that they had determined that the fire had ignited accidentally and closed the incident at 3.13pm.
