A DECISION on a controversial plan to build more than 30 homes on the edge of a rural beauty spot near Stone has been delayed.
Seddon Homes’ application for up to 34 homes on land south of Nicholls Lane and east of Airdale Spinney had been recommended for approval by Stafford Borough Council’s planning committee today.
But at this morning’s meeting councillors voted to visit the proposed development site before making their decision.
The plans have met with fierce opposition from nearby residents, who have concerns about road safety and impact on the neighbouring Moddershall Valley Conservation area.
Around 30 members of the public attended this morning’s meeting.
Gill Stanford, who lives near the proposed development site, voiced fellow residents’ objections while Sarah Rosencroft, representing Seddon, spoke in favour, saying the development would help address the need for more homes in the area.
