Day that will stay in our memories

From malcolm Millichap, Mayor of Stafford Borough 2010 -2011 ON SATURDAY July 10 my wife and I had the pleasure of judging the floats that were entered in the Mayor’s Civic Parade, both vehicles and walking floats.

Firstly, I must thank all the organisers who took the time and trouble to decorate the vehicles and those who took part with such humour and enthusiasm. In addition our thanks go to the primary school children accompanying the parade as walking floats and dressed themselves in accordance with the Africa theme.

As you will be aware, first place for the vehicle float was awarded to Pads followed by the Asda-sponsored Egyptian-themed float. Barnfields and Parkside schools won first and second place for the walking floats.

Weather on the day could not have been much better and the response from the people crowded into the town centre was terrific.

It was clear that everyone, especially the children, fully enjoyed the event.

Many officers of the council gave their own time to organise the parade and help with the floats, for which we are most grateful.

The day will form a lasting memory for both of us.
