Race on to beat cancer

Sian fraser I AM writing to urge people in the local area to take part in the Great South Run this year to raise money for World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).

The 10-mile run in Portsmouth is a fantastic event and this year it will be held on October 24. As well as being a tough challenge, it is also a lot of fun with a fantastic atmosphere.

And if people take part in support of WCRF, all the money they raise will help us continue with our vital cancer prevention work in funding scientific research and raising awareness that about a third of the most common cancers could be prevented through diet, physical activity and weight.

Everyone running in support of WCRF will get a running vest, a training plan and nutritional advice, as well as a fund-raising pack.

If your readers want to take part in the Great South Run for WCRF, they can call 020 7343 4205 or email running@wcrf.org by September 10.
