GREEN-THINKING workers from a Stafford supermarket joined forces with the borough council as part of a national iclean-up.
Staff from ASDA volunteered to take to the town centre’s streets as part of the Big Litter Pick.
ASDA community officer Sheriff Hegazy, said two groups totalling ten volunteers picked litter in the area, including along the river walk, finishing up at Market Square.
“We must have picked nine big bags of litter, including many recyclable items like cans and plastic bottles that can be recycled.
“This should send a message to the public to use the new recycling bins in the town centre to help save the planet.”
A spokesman from Stafford Borough Council Recycling Unit, said the litter pick underlined how important recycling was, not just at home, but all the time, with more than 70 per cent of the litter recovered of a recyclable nature.
He urged the public to use the new recycling bins in the town centre as much as possible.
