Ex-choirboy set to host Daybreak
Choirboy-turned-broadcaster Aled Jones has been unveiled as one of the new presenters of ITV1's breakfast show Daybreak.
The star, who will join Lorraine Kelly on the sofa, said he was thrilled to get the job.
He said: "I am thoroughly looking forward to sharing the sofa every morning with such a consummate professional as Lorraine Kelly. We've known each other for a very long time and have always had a lot of fun together. We hope that the viewers enjoy being part of our breakfast family."
Jones and Kelly will take up their new jobs later this year replacing Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley who left in December.
They struggled to improve on the audience figures for the show's predecessor GMTV and it was widely thought the audience failed to warm to them after their high profile moves from the BBC's One Show.
Bangor-born Jones became a child star after being spotted singing as a chorister in his hometown and recorded hits including Walking in the Air from the animated film The Snowman.
He went on to perform on stage and presented radio and television shows including Songs of Praise.
Kelly said: "I'm really looking forward to this challenge and to working with Aled who is a warm, funny and thoroughly decent bloke and is already a good friend."
