New group aims to help lupus sufferers

THE FIRST meeting of a new group set up to support lupus sufferers in Staffordshire will take place on Tuesday evening at Cannock Chase Hospital.

Health genericHeld in partnership with Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, the meeting will serve to introduce The Hibbs Lupus Trust, a voluntary group run by a dedicated team whose own lives have been affected by the chronic disease.

Consultant rheumatologist, Dr Venkat Chalam, who will be leading the meeting, said: “We encourage anyone with an interest in lupus to come and find out about this condition and its management.”

The trust’s main aims are to promote and protect the physical and mental health of lupus sufferers.

The launch meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 24 at Cannock Chase Hospital’s conference room 6pm-8pm and places can be booked by emailing membership@midstaffs.nhs.uk or calling 01785887504.
