COMMUNITY-CONSCIOUS Stafford and Stone folk have set up a residents group and are urging others to join in and make it the “voice of the people”.
The Stafford Tenants and Residents Borough Partnership (STAR BP) is a new voluntary group aiming to represent borough people.
It evolved from the past groups, such as the Stafford Borough Council tenants and residents’ federation and Stafford and Rural Homes tenants and residents’ forum.
The group is led by an executive committee of volunteers who care about the services and housing issues that effect householders within the borough but has no funding.
Members are hoping to build up partnerships with registered social landlords, Stafford borough and county councils .
The group is planning a series of meetings in and around the borough to let householders know about matters that are important to them and listen to any issues raised by the public.
The first will be at 6.30pm on June 11 at the Civic Centre in Riverside and residents are being urged to go along.
Chairman Patricia Evans Nixon said: “This is a new group with new ideas.
“We are not funded by a registered social landlord and we hope to reach out to all tenants in housing association properties, people in private rented properties and owner occupiers.
“We are actively seeking funding to allow this group to grow and evolve into a strong voice that represents tenants
