Her book Roses Under the Miombo Trees was nominated for Matado’s 2012 cover design competition with the public asked to vote for their favourite.

Her cover came third in the contest, which raised £300 for Arthritis Research UK.

Sales of the book have also raised more than £100 for charity SOS Children’s Village, which helps youngsters in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

She holds regular talks around the area, with the latest at Lichfield Library today at 2.30pm.

Roses Under the Miombo Trees is available in Penkridge at Footprint and Penkridge Hardware, as well as online at www.troubador.co.uk, and through bookshops.
