RAIL STAFF at Stafford will be hop- ing to cheer up the train station sur- roundings this summer by inviting musicians and choirs to come and perform.
The Virgin Trains team wanted to change people’s negative perceptions about the station that came to light during a period of online research.
Retail team leader Fiona Main said: “From monitoring social media it’s evident that a lot of people think that our station is a little bit dull.
“There is nothing we can do about the expanse of concrete but we can do all we can to let Stafford’s personality show through, hoping to detract from the greyness and brighten the place up a little.” She said the plan was to offer some entertainment for the thousands of people waiting for trains and passing through the station.
“We have started by holding several art exhibitions, the latest and largest of which has been to display local school sport-related art work in con- junction with the Stafford and Stone school sports partnership,” said Miss Main.
“We would love to have some acoustic musicians, choirs, story tellers etc perform at regular times throughout the summer if anyone would be interested.” Any Stafford artists or groups who would like to get involved can get in touch with Miss Main by calling 01270 538307.
