STAFFORD police are appealing for witnesses to a suspected arson attack on a town centre flat.

Members of the emergency services were called when the blaze broke out in a first-floor flat in Greyfriars on Sunday at 2.30pm.
Firefighters entered the flat using breathing apparatus to search for people who may have been trapped but found the property unoccupied.
Although no one was injured and there was no damage to other properties, the flat itself suffered extensive damage from the heat and smoke.
Police are treating the fire as suspicious and asking anyone with information to contact DC Noel Hunt on 101 quoting incident 439 of September 9 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
