STAFFORD’S MP will meet today with Monitor’s chief executive to urge him to work with the people of the town over the future or local healthcare.
Jeremy Lefroy is set to meet Dr David Bennett, interim chief executive of the independent regulator, along with other Staffordshire MP to discuss the scope of Monitor’s review of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and ask them to engage with the working group he has set up.
Mr Lefroy said: “It is vital that Monitor engages with the local community during this process and I will be making that point strongly.
“The positive response that the working group has received shows that the people of Stafford do care deeply about the future of their hospital and that is what we intend to work hard to preserve,” he said. “I will also be very interested to hear about the plans Monitor has for the review.”
