WORKERS at Stafford Tiles will be cycling and rowing from Dover to Calais and back again on Red Nose Day … without ever leaving the Newport Road.

Director Pete Davis told the Newsletter Virgin Health Club had donated the exercise bike and rowing machine his team would use during the fundraising effort for Comic Relief.
“There are ten of us taking part, and all in fancy dress,” he said. “It’s all a bit of fun really, but there are a load of young lads that work for us and they’re all up for it so it should be a good day.”
Mr Davis said the team were setting up a gazebo outside the shop where ten members of the team would take it in turn in a relay effort to cover a distance equivalent to across the channel and back again.
“That’s the plan,” he said. “We should be able to do it by five o’clock although honestly the point is to raise some money and if we’ve done that by the end of the day I’ll be happy.
Mr Davis said the team was aiming to raise £1,000 during the day and urged people of the town to drop by, cheer them on and donate some money to a good cause.
“I think my costume is a tutu and neon tights,” he added. “It’s being designed by a few of the girls that work for us and honestly I think they’re determined to make sure I look the silliest of all.”
