A STALWART campaigner who has fought for the rights of disabled people for years in Stafford is to step down from the Stafford and District Access Group
Derek Boult, chairman of the group, has spent 16 years volunteering and has helped push for fair access for people in wheelchairs, with sight problems and people pushing prams.
His success stories include consulting with Argos to replace its old, heavy doors with automatic ones, convincing WHSmith to improve its disabled access lift up to the post office and working with Morrisons in Stone to install cafe tables to accommodate wheelchair users.
The group is now eager to fill his shoes and is seeking someone who would be willing to dedicate the time and enthusiasm to consult with local businesses and planners on disabled access and raise awareness.
Anybody interested should contact charity secretary Olive Harvey at secretary@sdag.org.uk.
