A COMPETITION to design a commemorative plate to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee received an ‘amazing’ response according to its organisers.
The Guildhall Shopping Centre and the Wedgwood Visitor Centre in Barlaston, who joined forces to run the competition, were thrilled when they got more than 800 entries.
Guildhall Shopping Centre marketing manager, Anne Graham, said: “I think it shows just how excited the people of Stafford are about the Jubilee.
“We were inundated with entries and to have more than 800 to pick three winners from was amazing.”
Winning designs by nine-year-old Frances Duthie, 14-year-old Chloe Timmis and 54-year-old Jill Bramham, will be professionally fired at the Wedgwood Visitor Centre on June 7, with the other 817 entrants set to go on display at the Guildhall Shopping Centre.
Richard Ralph, Senior Surveyor at DTZ, Managing Agents for the Guildhall said: “The competition has really caught the imagination of our customers and the exhibition in the Guildhall is already proving very popular.”
The plates will be on display in Unit 21 during the shopping centre’s regular opening hours and entrants can reclaim their designs between June 11 to June 16.
