STAFFORD Olympian Alison Williamson has become the latest local name to join the board at fledgling radio station XL FM and champion the campaign toward a full-time community radio licence.

The former world number one and reigning national champion, who received an MBE for services to archery last year, said she was delighted to join the board as a non-executive director.

“I’m a huge fan of radio. In fact I haven’t even got a television, so it is the radio that is regularly playing in our house,” she said. “I’m really excited about the possibility Stafford could land its own radio station and hope I can help in the fight for XL FM.”

“Stafford is special to me, and the people and businesses have been extremely kind and supportive over the last few years,” said Ms Williamson.
