STAFFORD MP Jeremy Lefroy said he was “very disappointed” commissioners had chosen to keep Stafford’s A&E closed.
Reacting to news that the service, set to reopen in October, would remain closed indefinitely and would be replaced in December with a pilot model of emergency and urgent care, Mr Lefroy said he would be asking commissioners for a definition of the new arrangements.
"My constituents need to know whether this means that ambulances which had been taking Stafford people to Stoke, Wolverhampton, Walsall and Burton at night will now be able to take them to Stafford,” he said. “We need to know whether patients who ring the out of hours service and need to go to hospital will be able to go to Stafford and we need to know if patients who have, say, a severe cut at night and take themselves to Stafford will be able to have it treated.
“A 24/7 service is what my constituents need.”
