Stafford's new Mayor revealed

THE NEW Mayor of Stafford Borough has been nominated – and he represents the same area as the new Deputy Mayor.

At Tuesday’s full council meeting Holmcroft Councillor Bryan Cross was chosen to represent the borough in a civic capacity.

The Conservative councillor said: “It is an honour. As an adopted son of Stafford I have now lived here longer than any other place in my whole life and I would regard myself as a son of Stafford.

“I will do my utmost to serve it to the best of my ability.”

Fellow Holmcroft councillor Frank James was nominated as the borough’s new Deputy Mayor. The Labour councillor said: “It is an honour I will take great pride in.”
