STAFFORDSHIRE’S top cops will take to the web tonight to speak to local residents about policing across the county.
Chief constable Mike Cunningham, deputy chief constable Douglas Paxton, director of resources Graham Liddiard and assistant chief constable Julian Blazeby, will hold a webchat at from 6.30pm until around 7.30pm.
Mr Cunningham said: “I am keen to be as open and accessible as possible through these on-line events which are extremely popular with our communities.
“I try and spend as much time as possible speaking to members of our community and these online events are another way I get listen to our communities,” he said. "I want people from across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to get involved and ask questions or, as many people do, just follow the conversations.
The force, which celebrates its 170th birthday this week is also hosting a retrospective of its storied history at www.facebook.com/staffordshirepolice.
Posted as a timeline allowing users to look within certain periods or navigate from when the first police force was established to the present day.
Mr Cunningham said: “The content of the timeline is a fascinating read and chronicles the evolution of the Staffordshire Police force.
“We are grateful to all the contributors and our special thanks go to Alan Walker, and other volunteers, who started the collection and who was awarded an MBE for his work.”
