Star-crossed performers sought for Romeo and Juliet

ASPIRING actors, singers and dancers have a chance to tread the boards in this year’s Stafford Festival Shakespeare show.

Producers preparing to stage Romeo and Juliet at Stafford Castle are seeking people with a hidden flair for Salsa and Latin American dance, acting or singing to audition for up to 20 parts.

The auditions will be held at the

Gatehouse Theatre on May 13 and 20 and are open to males and females aged 16 or over. Anyone wishing to take part must be available during the rehearsal period and all performances.

Derrick Gask, Artistic Programme Manager for Stafford Gatehouse Theatre and Producer for Stafford Festival Shakespeare, said: “This year we are

looking for people who have a passion for dancing to come along and appear in our production of the iconic tragedy Romeo and Juliet.

“You do not have to be a professional dancer or have a background of dance, just enthusiasm to try something new and some dance experience.

“This is a brilliant opportunity for

successful applicants as they will have the chance to perform to over 14,500 people. It could be a fantastic stepping stone for anyone who has considered a career within the theatre, or just an amazing experience for those that enjoy performing.”

Auditionees should attend the Gatehouse Theatre on either audition date at 9.30pm.
