THE 2012 Olympics may be over but Stone will carry the celebration into Christmas.
Olympic canoeist and Stone resident Lizzie Neave will switch on the town’s Christmas lights on November 22 during its annual festive extravaganza.
Other events in the town on switch on night will include musical performances by the Stone schools’ Christmas choir, Stone town band, Phoenix and Beggars Belief in Market Square.
There will be a funfair in the town centre and local charities and food sellers are being invited to take up a stall for the evening, which attracts hundreds of revelers each year.
Event organiser and Stone town councilor Charlie Hearing said: “I think Lizzie is going to get a really lovely warm welcome.”
Any charities or food retailers who want to book a stall at the event should contact Stone Town Council on 01785 619740 for more information.
