Taxi boss sheds light on town's problems

Written bySarah Marshall

A BUSINESS boss says Stafford’s road system might be putting people off coming into the town in the wake of shop closures and high business rates.

Taxi
Fred Dunn, who owns Aerobright Taxi Firm at Astonfields, says the huge number of traffic lights cause chaos in and around the centre and are off-putting to visitors.

He says he struggles to make money after 3pm as traffic grinds to a halt.

Mr Dunn spoke out following last week’s calls in the Newsletter for the Government to slash business rates.

Demtrios Nicolaou, who runs Sandon Road Fish Bar, said he had looked at opening a fish and chip shop in the town but the rates and rent would have been £53,000.
