A MAJOR developer has bought a piece of land to create 400 new homes in Stafford in an £80 million deal.

The site already has outline planning permission from Stafford Borough Council for residential use.
Taylor Wimpey is set to submit a more detailed planning application to the borough council in the spring.
Mark Mainwaring, managing director of Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, said: “Stafford has been identified as a settlement of significant future development potential in the Regional Spatial Strategy, and the land we have purchased has been identified by Stafford Borough Council as one of the key strategic sites for housing provision.
“We are delighted to have secured such a prestigious site and look forward to working with the local planning authority, community and other stakeholders as we formulate our detailed plans for the provision of quality new homes.
“The project will bring many benefits to Stafford and the region as a whole, including the creation of new employment opportunities plus the investment of millions of pounds in the local community, highways infrastructure and on-site recreational open space.”
